The Art of Reinvention : Turning 51 and My Birthday Reflections
As I celebrate my 51st birthday today, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me here. My path hasn't been linear – it's been a winding road of healing, transformation, reinvention, and profound personal growth. Looking back at my journey over the years, I've learned that life's greatest gifts often come wrapped in unexpected packages.
As I celebrate my 51st birthday today, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me here. My path hasn't been linear – it's been a winding road of healing, transformation, reinvention, and profound personal growth. 🌱
Looking back at my journey over the years, I've learned that life's greatest gifts often come wrapped in unexpected packages. The vision I had for my life in my younger years looked quite different from my reality today, but that's exactly what makes this journey so beautiful. Through navigating major life changes, including divorce and raising my kids to become independent adults as a single parent, I've discovered that true fulfillment isn't about following a predetermined script – it's about having the courage to write your own story. 💫
In my past blog posts, I've shared deeply personal insights about this transformation. From learning to embrace change to understanding the power of self-love, each step has been crucial in shaping who I am today.
The process of rebuilding my life taught me that sometimes we need to let go of our rigid expectations to make room for the unexpected. When we stay open to what life brings us with curiosity and often times trust and surrender, opportunities and possibilities arise in ways we may not have known we needed.
I believe and often share with my coaching clients that we exist as two beings: a spiritual being and a human being. We must trust and surrender to the universe, knowing it's always working and collaborating with us for our highest good. As humans, we can't always predict what lessons will arise—experiences we must face to become closer to our wholeness and true authentic selves. While we keep one hand in the ethers with our faith, manifestation power, angels, guides, and spiritual practices, we still walk this earth as humans who must often make the difficult choices, take the hard actions and do the work we need to truly live our lives.
Key Lessons from My Journey:
💗 To love myself completely and fully
💗 To authentically be myself no matter what without apology
💗 To understand, accept, and live my life knowing that I am the most important person in my life.
Today, at 51, I stand proud of the life I've created and curated. I have beautiful homes, a thriving business that feeds my soul, amazing relationships that lift me up, and the freedom to chase new adventures. But more than these external achievements, I'm proud of the internal work I've done – the courage to face my fears, the strength to rebuild from scratch, and the wisdom to prioritize my own happiness and well-being.
As I look ahead, I'm filled with excitement for what's to come. This birthday isn't just a celebration of another year – it's a celebration of transformation, of consciously choosing myself, and of living life on my own terms. Here's to embracing change, chasing dreams, and continuing to evolve into the best version of ourselves.
Remember, it's never too late to reinvent yourself, to chase your dreams, or to create the life you truly desire. Sometimes the most beautiful chapters of our lives begin after we've had the courage to turn the page, use our story to truly fuel our rise.
My Personal Journey: From Vision to Reality
How setting intentions and using your vision can turn your dreams into reality. Vision is a powerful transformational tool in the journey for reinvention.
Throughout my life, I've set intentions, both big and small. What I've discovered is the immense power of setting intentions in shaping the life I love and live today. These intentions weren't just about the things I desired in my life but about what I wanted to feel and experience, the way I wanted to live. These intentions were the visions I held for the life I wanted to curate for myself.
After decades of studying and applying spiritual and self-development concepts, I've come to understand and believe that the universe is always co-creating with us and working for our highest good. Often, what's for our highest good isn't necessarily what we think our lives should look like or be like, but it's always what we ultimately need.
For example, I've always set the intention and vision to be in a loving and kind relationship. I've worked hard on myself and in life to obtain this vision. However, I never imagined it would take me going through a divorce and ending a 20-year marriage in an unexpected way to get what I envisioned. After years of complex and uneasy times, I've learned that everything happened the way it did, ultimately for my highest good.
Don't get me wrong; I would have preferred it not to have gone down the way it did. However, the experiences I've survived and thrived through over the past seven years since my divorce brought me to reinvent my life and myself to become my whole and authentic self.
Before this pivotal turning point and colossal wakeup call in my life, I was living what looked like a "perfect" life, but in reality, I was in an emotionally toxic relationship where I had lied to myself and was causing a lot of harm to myself and those I loved. I was living my life as a people pleaser and high-functioning co-dependent continuously and unintentionally, harming myself and those around me.
My vision and intention for a loving and kind relationship look different from what I had initially planned. The players involved are different, as are the circumstances, but what I feel, experience, and live is exactly what I had always envisioned and wanted for myself and my life. Most importantly, I learned the importance of reinventing my life, this time with me at the center of my own life.
What is Reinvention?
It's crucial to understand that Reinvention isn't about becoming someone else. It's about rediscovering your true self, shedding what no longer serves you, and embracing new possibilities. Reinvention is about gaining clarity on who you want to be and the life you want to live. Most importantly, it's about summoning the courage to make changes, heal, and grow in ways that resonate with your true, most authentic self. Reinvention is about consciously choosing and shaping what matters most to you.
Vision is Essential
Remember, your vision is not just a dream; it's a powerful tool for change. It's the guiding blueprint for your life's journey, motivating you and helping align your choices with the life you wish to live. The best part? Your vision already exists within you, waiting to be discovered, nurtured, and cultivated. It's the key to unlocking your potential and shaping your future.
Beyond my vision for the type of relationship, I've held a long-time vision of traveling to Italy. All that history, the views, and, of course, the food! I set this vision and intention for myself, and it was time to bring my vision to reality.
How to Make Your Vision a Reality
The Transformation Equation, coined by my mentor, the best-selling Author and Master Life Coach Nancy Levin in her book Art of Change, is the formula for bringing about change and making your vision a reality.
Transformation Equation:
Change = Vision + Choice + Action
To create change, we start with a vision of where we want to go, make choices aligned with that vision, and then take action to achieve that vision.
With my coaching clients, I take this equation even further, as in order to bring about change, we also need practice, persistence, and time. These aspects of change are often overlooked and missing in our quest for change. To truly pivot, change deep-rooted patterns, and establish new ways of doing things, we need practice, persistence, and, most importantly, the gift of time.
Set an Intention for Your Vision
Uncovering our vision is the first step towards creating the life we desire. It will guide every decision moving forward. Understanding your vision will give you the power to know that every choice and action you take will either serve or sabotage your vision. So, set your vision, and let it inspire and motivate you to take the necessary steps toward your dreams.
My vision for a lifelong dream of traveling to Italy was set. Over the last several years, I've made choices and taken action to bring about the changes I needed in my life to make this vision a reality.
I chose to leave my position as COO, my dream job, to curate a career and business that would allow the time and the schedule I needed to go on such a trip. I took action to budget and save to finance this trip of a lifetime.
My Vision Became a Reality
This past fall, my vision of visiting Italy with my love came to life. We spent two weeks traveling through this beautiful country, learning about its history and landscape and eating as much food as possible.
We explored Rome and Florence, visited friends in Bologna, and ended our incredible adventure in Venice. To say this trip was amazing is an understatement.
Remember what I shared about practice, persistence, and time being key? My adventure to Italy has been a long time coming. I've made multiple attempts to make this dream trip a reality. Each time, life took a turn in the wrong direction, i.e., my divorce. I didn't let it stop me. I practiced my way to correct my course, being persistent in my choices and actions to make it all happen and giving it the time it needed to make my vision a reality.
This trip to Italy is one of many visions around my travels that have become a reality this year. I also traveled to Amsterdam, another part of the world that I've always wanted to visit.
This is to share and show you that anything you put your mind to is possible. So start creating the change you desire in your life! Set your vision, make the choices, and take the necessary actions. Above all, remember to keep practicing, be persistent, and give your dreams the time they need to become reality.

How Going Digital Can Change Your Life
Making the change to a digital lifestyle may require a mindset shift and the willingness to learn new skills. However, the advantages are worth the effort.
I'm passionate about operations, streamlining processes, and systems. This obsession and my organizational skills were vital on my journey from stay-at-home mom to COO after my divorce. Whether it's work-related or part of everyday life, this drive has been instrumental in my personal and professional transformations.
My ultimate goal, as I like to say, is to create systems to reduce overwhelm and anxiety, all so I can relax and sit on my butt. This approach has served me well in all areas of my life.
I've come to appreciate that my approach is a valuable skill I now use with my clients. I help them unlock their inner modern matriarch, enabling them to transform authentically—find more time, achieve balance, and get their lives together. I guide and teach my clients the skills they need to achieve effortless efficiency over everyday tasks.
The first time-saving key is to go digital. But I'll be honest—going digital was one of the hardest changes for me to implement... until it wasn't. For years, I had convinced myself that technology was beyond my grasp. This belief didn't come out of nowhere; it was deeply rooted in my past.
When I immigrated to the U.S. at age 8, I spoke very little English. I only knew how to count from 1 to 10 and recite the alphabet. Looking back now, I know I most likely did not even pronounce those correctly! To make things more challenging, I also struggled with dyslexia. (No need to point out spelling errors! 🤣 I've completely accepted that they're there whenever I write).
Throughout my life, I was often told that I was "stupid." This strong yet inaccurate belief about myself led me to become a perfectionist who never wanted to showcase anything unless I was absolutely sure I got it just right. I rarely tried to expand and grow unless I was sure I would succeed and meet expectations. It also led to me constantly beating myself up, feeling like I wasn’t good enough even when I was, and burnout.
During my college years in the 90s, the internet and everyday use of technology were just becoming mainstream. My ex-husband was a technology whiz! It was amazing how he could understand and use technology rapidly and expertly—our son has this same gift. Me, on the other hand? I was frozen in my distorted belief that I wasn't smart enough to gain technical skills.
I played small and kept myself small.
You would often hear me say, "I'm crafty and creative but not techy." Over the years, things have changed. I'm still working to fully rewrite this belief and catch myself saying this occasionally, but there's definitely forward movement in the right direction.
I started small, learning to use email and email applications more efficiently. I tackled various ways to use calendar apps to my advantage and fell in love with cloud storage. Although filled with fear, I could see how these tools would help streamline and simplify my life, moving me towards my goal of effortless efficiency.
Why Go Digital?
The truth is, there are numerous benefits to going digital that can significantly improve your life. Digital technology allows you to utilize tools that are constantly at your fingertips—whether it's your phone, tablet, or computer. Going digital may not appeal to everyone, but it is undeniable that it’s not just convenient and efficient; it's resourceful.
Making the change to a digital lifestyle may require a mindset shift and the willingness to learn new skills. However, the advantages are worth the effort, which I share in my Effortless Efficiency: Time-Saving Keys for the Modern Matriarch free guide.
Making the Change
When I decided to embrace the digital transformation, I had to face my fears and let go of outdated limiting beliefs.
Here's what I had to explore:
Self-Reflection: How was keeping myself small and holding onto my limiting beliefs serving me? What could I gain by learning new ways of doing things?
Challenge the Limiting Beliefs: Was it really true that I was stupid? What experiences in my life showed that this was false? What was true, and what was fiction?
Choose Commitment Over Fear: What was I more committed to, staying in my fear or working to overcome it?
It was a slow process of learning new skills, putting them into practice, and giving myself the time I needed to grow. Eventually, I learned and accepted that holding onto the past was not in my best interest. So be willing to be a beginner and give yourself the grace to make mistakes.
The reality is that if we don't evolve with the times, we'll be left clinging to a past that no longer exists. So, I'm here to cheer you on with the changes you're implementing and encourage you to keep going. Take it one step at a time, no matter how small. Those little steps really add up!
Remember, it's about progress over perfection.

Navigating the Waves: Lessons from My Year in Review
Embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, reflecting on the milestones of 2023. Profound lessons include embracing change, finding home within, and experiencing the joys of mid-life "adulting." Gain personal insights into parenting, career pivots, and the courage to invest fully in oneself. This tale weaves gratitude, growth, and anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead in 2024.
Every December, as we stand at the threshold of a new year, I immerse myself in a yearly reflection practice. Looking back on the past year, the magnitude of 2023 hits me – oh, so BIG! This year has been a tapestry woven with milestones and growth, the result of powerful lessons, facing my truth, taking responsibility, and bravely moving forward despite uncertainties. Above all, it required trusting myself and embracing compassion, grace, and love.
Here are the highlights
Created a Home: Settled into a house I manifested and purchased at the end of 2022.
Portugal Sojourn: Spent nearly a month in Portugal – a lifelong dream fulfilled. Explored Porto alone, shared it with a dear friend, and ventured through Lisbon and the magical Algarve with my love.
Empty Nester Status: Officially became an empty nester, witnessing my kids embark on their life journeys.
Fifty and Fabulous: Celebrated the monumental milestone of turning 50 with pride.
Career Pivot: Resigned from a job I held for three years, taking a giant leap to invest in myself.
Amidst life's hurdles and hardships, especially in recent years, I wouldn't be a self-development coach if I didn't practice what I preach. I embody the concepts I share with clients, a living example of the transformative power of life coaching.
Home is Where the Heart Is
Many say home is where the heart is, but for me, it’s more than that. A home brings me comfort, stability, and a sanctuary from the world. It’s a place for refuge and helps center me back to myself. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced some unexpected mishaps and rash choices that have required me to move six times in the last five years. With each move, I was able to get settled and make a home wherever I was living. This was not the issue. The issue was knowing that I needed to move again or consider yet another move.
What’s the lesson I’ve learned? To take credit and focus on what I know to be true.
No matter where I was living, I really did create a home. They were all styled just the way I wanted, always cozy, and provided me all the things I needed at that time. Yes, I needed to move again and again. And yes, there may be yet another move coming up in my near future. But the common theme is that wherever my physical location has been, I’ve had a beautiful home, a place to call home and feel at home.
I realized that I had been critical and judgmental about the length of time I lived in a specific location and the reason behind the moves. I was in comparison to my past and how others lived instead of putting the focus and gratitude towards what is present and more importantly, that all of it was of my own choosing.
Each home I’ve had over these past few years has brought me so much joy and abundance. And each time, I was able to step into my ability to take care of myself and my children for our best interest. How beautiful is that?
Portugal: A Trip of a Lifetime
I spent almost a month in Portugal during the summer of 2023, a trip I had been dreaming of for most of my life. It required considerable effort not only to save for the expenses but also to develop the confidence and belief that I was worthy of such an experience. I believed I deserved this journey—to be alone, to spend time with friends, and to savor moments with my love.
The Trip had three distinct parts
First, in Porto, Portugal, I immersed myself in solitary exploration, relishing the luxury of my remote job that allowed me to work from almost anywhere in the world. I took long walks, absorbed the breathtaking views, and indulged in the local cuisine. I concluded this leg of the trip by sharing the city for a couple of days with one of my closest friends, coincidentally visiting Portugal at the same time.
Second, in Lisbon, Portugal, I stayed with my dear friend Linda Perry, who had moved to the area earlier that year and graciously opened her home to me. We spent hours discussing business development and strategy—perhaps sounding mundane to most, but for us, it was a magical way to spend our time. My love joined us, flying in to conclude my Portugal adventure. Marc and I explored the city with our friends, indulging in incredible drinks and, once again, exquisite food. The highlight was a tuk-tuk tour of Lisbon, delving into its rich history and culture.
The third and final part of our trip unfolded in the Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal, with its mesmerizing sunsets, cliffs, and coves. We stayed in an adorable condo overlooking the water, listening to live music from our private balcony, and relishing long walks along the shore. To say it was magical would be an understatement.
Working and vacationing in Portugal was a beautiful experience, and I eagerly anticipate doing it again. What I learned, however, was that I had genuinely achieved what I had always set out to do and believed was possible. I've worked diligently to craft a life that I genuinely love and don't need a vacation from.
While vacations are delightful and sweet, I've come to realize that I have similar moments of laughter, connection, and enjoyment in my everyday life, whether in the picturesque settings of a vacation or right at home in Colorado, even just sitting on my couch. I don't need a vacation from my life to truly live and love. This, my dear friends, is the ultimate goal—to lead a life you don't need a vacation from.
Mid-Life Adulting
My Gen-Z adult children introduced me to a term—Adulting—that encapsulates the journey of growing up and becoming an adult. I playfully joke that, yes, even as a 50-year-old middle-aged woman, I am still "adulting." Often, this elicits perplexed reactions, but allow me to elaborate. Adulting, as I see it, is way harder when you're taking care of yourself than when you're taking care of others. Can you tell I'm a recovering people-pleaser and codependent?
I've spent my entire life looking out for others. Being an immigrant is no walk in the park, and it brought a heap of responsibilities and challenges my way. Growing up, I had to take on more than was age-appropriate just to make it through. This pattern became the norm and persisted into my adulthood.
The wake-up call came when my then-husband left me and our marriage over a phone call, just a week before celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. It was a shock, triggering an even more significant realization that I needed to change not just to survive but to thrive. This marked the moment I fully embarked on my self-development journey—focusing on setting boundaries, recognizing my worth, and unapologetically embracing who I am. Nearly six years have passed since that pivotal moment, and the personal, professional, and financial strides I've made have been tremendous.
Nancy Levin played a crucial role as a guiding force during these transformative years. Her books, coaching, training, mentorship, and guidance transformed me, enabling me to make powerful changes and take actions that have had a massively positive impact on me, my life, and my kids.
This month, I turned 50! Reaching this half-century milestone presents a unique opportunity to reflect on the beautiful lessons and experiences accumulated throughout my lifetime. Currently savoring an empty nest and observing my two children chart their own paths brings me great comfort. Adjusting to an empty nest is a fascinating parenting transition, affirming that there is life after kids.
I take pride in accomplishing my primary goal as a parent—raising humans who know themselves and live life to the fullest on their terms. Their belief in themselves and pursuit of happiness inspire me! With this inspiration, I took a giant leap, stepping away from my position as COO and Director of the Levin Life Coach Academy with Nancy Levin—a dream job I've cherished for the last three years. A role that allowed me to do what lights me up, run a successful business, and be a life coach.
Becoming an empty nester and turning 50 prompted a shift—an acknowledgment that it was the right moment to invest fully in myself and the dreams I hold. Now, more than ever, I can take giant leaps, trust the process, and go all in on me.
Yes, I'm scared, and the fear is real.
Yes, I'm ready!
Yes, if not now, when?
Reflecting on the year 2023, I do so with gratitude and appreciation, recognizing that it led me to where I'm meant to be. As I look forward to 2024, I do so with the knowledge that it will be a year filled with new experiences, adventures, and further expansion in this journey I call life.
The Journey to Having More
The experiences and the stories in your life and mine have made us into who we are today. Without the ability to change the past and knowing everything has happened for us rather than to us, there are truths and lessons to be learned and benefits that have been gained which we must hold on to with gratitude.
Owning My Story
The experiences and the stories in your life and mine have made us into who we are today. This is the very reason I believe owning our story is so vital in moving forward through the transitions in our lives as we transform forward into the life we curate and love. We can’t go back in time to the past, it has already taken place. Without the ability to change the past and knowing everything has happened for us rather than to us, there are truths and lessons to be learned and benefits that have been gained which we must hold on to with gratitude.
I don’t know about you, but I have lived an interesting life with many twists, turns, ups, and downs. And through it all, I have come to love who I am and the life I curated. This was not always the case.
In my marriage, I played small, pretended everything was fine, and played my part to allow myself to stay in a toxic marriage for twenty years. . . all because I did not love myself, did not believe I was enough because I was broken in some way. In a very self-harming manner, I believed I was unworthy of having what I desired.
I desired friendship, respect, honor, honesty, compassion, empathy, kindness, understanding, and love from my husband. The missing element and the hard truth was that I was unable to give these things to myself and therefore I had tied and bounded myself to a man who was incapable, unwilling to express, and void of qualities.
I was so busy chasing the approval, acceptance, love, and attention of my husband that I became a shell of who I am. I willingly took crumbs in exchange for me giving and caring beyond my threshold and my limits. I was always giving and he was always taking . . . and in truth, this is what I created for myself and allowed in my marriage. In the process, I endured bullying, negative talk, blame, silence, verbal abuse, physical violence, and anger. And in return, I showed up in mirrored reactions with the same, equally hurtful, harmful, and toxic behaviors.
Getting Fueled
I hold gratitude for the toxic end of my marriage, my husband leaving me, our 20-year marriage, and a 23-year relationship over a telephone call. In the toxic and painful divorce that followed I finally found the strength to say no more to the abuse, gaslighting, and bullying.
I stepped into my power to stand up for myself, my worth, and my value, firmly honoring the important role I had in our marriage, our time together, and my role in the success of his career and our family. Even without his acknowledgment or honor, I knew I had value and finally began giving myself credit, well deserved and well earned.
I learned to use this experience as fuel for opening myself up to possibilities of having all the things I desired for myself and from myself. I no longer needed his approval, acceptance, or validation.
I took the steps and actions necessary to own my own transformation to get out of being a victim and instead face the truth of my marriage, my husband, and how much I had harmed myself, him, and our children. I learned valuable lessons through the experience and today, use it as fuel and catalyst for something so much better, receiving all that I desire from the one person I can’t live without… me, myself, and I! And by owning my story and fueling my transformation and growth, I guide and help others do the same through my work.
Road to Having More
MORE for me, means having more of the things I want in my life. The specifics things change from time to time. And these things may be different from what I may want in life and what I need in life. . . either way, I want MORE and lots of it! At the moment, my intentions in my life are working towards and having MORE:
Love
Friendship
Family
Joy
Abundance
Laughter
Relaxation
Travel
Learning
Experiences
Time with those I love
Creativity
Connections
Cooking and enjoying food
Sacred Time for myself
What do you desire to have MORE of in your life? What story have you lived through? What lessons have you learned that is fueling your intention and quest for having MORE in your life?
Curating the Life We Love
The Best Life Cafe, with hosts Cathy Anello and Cari Butler, is a weekly radio show on iTunes and Blog Talk Radio. Cathy and Cari bring their listeners insights on spiritual growth to live their best lives with special guests as guides.
Today, I was honored to be a guest on the show to talk about curating the life we love by accepting the experiences and stories, then using the valuable lessons to fuel and be the catalyst for MORE in our lives.
I am both and neither
It began with a thought.
I wondered if my Asianess or lack thereof, had anything to do with my life choices and spiritual journey, I was searching for more answers, more healing, more understanding... just more. Do you relate? Have you felt like this? Have you had questions that rise up round your “Asianness” and “Americanness”?
I am both and neither; A Glimpse into the Cultural Conflict of an Asian American
Yep, me too.
For over 20 years I’ve consumed, practiced, trained and studied the teachings of many ancient and modern spiritual teachers and life coaches. It was great! Their teachings and tools brought me true happiness, healing, and love into my life. I learned a lot and it worked, but something was missing. NOT one single guide understood my experience of being an Asian American or a child of Asian Immigrants. I realized they could never fully relate or resonate with the subtle and overt influences and nuances of being culturally conflicted; caught between being both and yet neither Asian nor American. Asian Americans live with deeply rooted cultural programming, influences, pressures, and a unique external physical container that only other Asian Americans can understand or relate to.
So, I’m stepping into the role to be the first Asian American Spiritual guide and life coach. To guide those of us who desperately need to be represented and heard so we can finally know it’s okay to want and have “MORE”.
Are you with me? 🙋🏻♀️
I realize that we don’t have this guide in the mainstream because it’s totally taboo, going against everything we’ve been taught and was ingrained from our upbringing. Don’t express:
Your feelings
Your pain
Your trauma
Your struggles
Your desires
Your dreams
Your needs
I’ve always been criticized for sharing my feelings, experiences and emotions. How dare I put myself and my needs first, I should swallow and suffer in silence and do it alone. Even as I write this out, I’m triggered with internal voices of criticism of “How dare I speak up like this,” and “How dare I even share these thoughts.”
Just like you, I get triggered but here’s the thing, I move forward anyways in spite of them. I just tell my ego, “thanks for sharing, now shut the fuck up!”
You don’t have to do this alone. You are not alone, I’m here to help. Download a FREE meditation here.
From my own personal transformation and healing, I have a tool box full of keys to unlock the doors so you can fully and finally step into who you are with confidence, permission, and love.
🔑 First key is STILLNESS.
Say what? What is this stillness I speak of? It’s about sitting in silence, getting quiet, being in peace and feeling centered so you can listen, gain clairy and be able to handle whatever shows up in your life. Use whatever term you want, meditation, mindfulness, being present. It’s simply a short time you give permission to yourself to take care of you, your needs and just be you.
Not sure how to do that or where to start? No worries, I’ve got you covered. I created a 3 minute free audio meditation to support and guide so you can start on your journey. Download your FREE meditation here
Transition is Here to Serve
Do you often find yourself repeatedly in a state of transition? Do you sometimes scream out to the UNIVERSE like I used to “Seriously Universe, again, really!?
I received a message from TRANSITION recently that I know will lead to a big shift for you as it has for me.
No Seriously! Transition is here to serve you, no seriously! I have hated and dreaded transition most of my life, then as I started on my spiritual journey many decades ago, I came to understand that they were always necessary and a blessing in the end. I saw them as an opportunity for growth and learning of lessons towards something better and working through much-needed shifts. This, however, did not make it easier, nor did I look forward to them in any way. I definitely did not enjoy the process! I found them difficult, triggering and at times the juggling of too many and frequent transitions took me took my knees. I spent a lot of time saying out loud “Seriously Universe, again, really!?” or “Haven’t I learned enough, what else is there for me to learn?” Do you feel me? Have you found yourself saying the same thing?
Each experience trained me, got me stronger and it did get easier and easier being in transition. It got easier because I simply began to trust and surrender to them. I would roll up my sleeves, get into the yucky stuff inside myself, then do the hard work it took to take the necessary steps. What drove and fueled me was that I didn’t want to go through the same lessons again and again in different variations as I had in the earlier half of my life. And I had full, complete trust, and faith it was always for my highest good, even if I didn’t see it as such - I just made the choice to believed it was. I had a whole system and process I took myself through, began successfully guiding others through their own transitions. But they too found themselves lost in transition repeatedly. I was good at being in transition and they just kept coming again and again. I rolled with it and flowed through them the best I could because I knew ultimately the Universe has my back.
What I recently learned is going to BLOW YOUR MIND!!! I know when I received this knowing, it shifted everything for me. It was the missing piece in my own personal spiritual toolbox and more than likely, it is also something missing in yours. I hope it will help to bring you more clarity, understanding, and acceptance around transition as it has for me.
I received this message from TRANSITION itself during deep meditation. TRANSITION told me and it wants me to share with you that it needs us to direct it where to go. Yup, you heard correctly TRANSITION needs us to tell it where we want it to take us. The exact message was “If you don’t tell me where to take you, I can’t take you there.” It was followed by “The UNIVERSE always has your back, you trust and believe this. We want everything you want for yourself, we want to give it to you, you just have to ask. So show me and I will just take you there, then you won’t have to keep thinking you are in transition because of me. I’m still with you, I keep coming back because you don’t tell me where I should take you. I keep trying but I have no destination - only you can give me this.”
I share this message with you because it was a game-changer for me. You have to firmly let TRANSITION know exactly where you want it to take you. We get the choice, the UNIVERSE is here to provide miracles and ultimately everything we need to make us fully happy is present and we are always divinely led. TRANSITION is here to take us wherever we would like. We enter into transition because a shift is necessary, this may be because we are not showing up authentically as our true self, we’ve lost our way, or we need to pivot and drop those things that no longer serve us so we can move towards our highest good. We get stuck in transition or transitions keep showing up because we never completely or honestly tell TRANSITION where we want to go, so it keeps trying and trying to get us somewhere which ultimately ends up being nowhere.
Most of us blame the transitional stage or circumstance that got us there or the people we think are at fault. The truth is TRANSITION is here to give us a ride from a location that does not serve us to where we want to be. But the destination is totally up to us!!! How we get there is going to take reflection, honesty, and action. This is where TRANSITION is here to guide us, as long as it knows where we want it to take us. Remember, we are always being divinely led. TRANSITION is here to serve us, it is a positive thing and working for our highest good. TRANSITION is only waiting on us, it is waiting for us to have clarity, be truthful with ourselves about our desires and it needs us for our next destination. This is what allows TRANSITION to guide us to the action steps, the dropping of old patterns, and the shifts necessary to get us from where we were, where we are to where we want to be.
For myself, I want more of what I have now, it is the life I have intentionally and purposefully curated for myself. It took my life turning upside down and inside out, losing everything I thought was real and important, and kicking me in the ass along the way, to wake me up to being honest about myself, my life and the truth of it all. It took me through an unexpected and toxic journey that was difficult, yet ultimately for my highest good. It took a lot of trust, surrender, grace, and grit to get where I am today.
Next, for me, there are specific things and a path I need to take to attain having even more of what I have in my life and TRANSITION is here guiding me through all of it. It was always here for me, for you too, for us - we were just too busy stressing it out because we weren’t providing it a clear destination. Having this new knowing has allowed me to clear the path for TRANSITION to take me exactly to where I desire to be. I am a willing passenger rather and a cluelessly controlling backseat driver . I’m just here for the ride being ready to take the necessary actions as it guides the way taking me to the destination of my choosing.

My first trip to Nicaragua - Clinica Verde
I am leaving today for a trip to Boaco, Nicaragua to visit Clinica Verde a global healthcare organization with a holistic and sustainable approach. They provide clinical care, nutrition, and health education to their cherished patients. But above all they are building a community health center that is ethical, sustainable, innovative, and compassionate.
In Nicaragua life is difficult and many people struggle with living a life with few choices or opportunities. I have learned that Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America and that one out of every four pregnancy is from teenagers between the ages of 15-19. Chronic malnourishment is common and children frequently die from easily preventable diseases.
Clinica Verde is dedicated to a beautiful and powerful intention:
EVERY PERSON MATTERS!
EVERY WOMEN
EVERY CHILD
EVERY FAMILY
No matter who you are Or where you live
YOU MATTER
This is an environmentally sustainable health clinic for impoverished for women and children that provides prenatal and postnatal care but also provides education, support compassion and understanding. A place for girls where they can learn to care for themselves and see opportunity. They serve thousands of women and children each year.
I am totally impressed all Clinica Verde offers from it’s building, clinical services, educational programs and most of all dedication to empowering women, showing that they are loved, and not alone. They are truly making a difference in the world!
I look forward to a lasting relationship and involvement in helping Clinica Verde in any way I can. I am so excited to be share about my experience and be of service in anyway I can. Follow me on Instagram and on Facebook for up-to-date photos from the visit.

Meditation for Stress Relief
This month it's important for us to slow down our breath and let peace, love and inner harmony grow within us. Sangeet, my teacher, shares that Yoga Master Yogi Bhajan often describe how our heads are so full that our hearts are empty. When we keep our thoughts from consuming our minds it allows our hearts to fill up so that we may share with the universe and others from a deep place of tranquility and peace. We accomplish this through slowing down our breath.

Sangeet shares that slowing your breath to a pace of 4 complete breaths a minute will help to regain control over your thoughts, gain mental clarity and pull you out of reactive emotional states. One complete breath is accomplished over 15 seconds (inhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds). Sangeet often shares using this breath will help to “keep the freak in!” and not let that freak out. This breath will help create your sanctuary, allowing for clarity and calm to prevail and let your loving heart grow within you and touch those around you. Per Sangeet’s suggestion try this breath for 5-7 minutes a day, at least twice a day, every day.
This month I share with you a meditation that uses this exact breath pattern called “Stress Relief and Clearing the Emotions of the Past” from the book, I am a Woman - Creative, Sacred, Invincible. Feel free to use the video and meditate with me this month.

Wisdom Wednesday
This month is a time for walking the true spiritual path of love through creating sacred space for yourself and others, speaking kind words, sharing smiles, showing kindness and love to each other. Without showing love and compassion for yourself and others you will become weak over time, weakening your immune system, stressing your nervous system, and eventually breaking your mind.
Wisdom Wednesday
May 2017 Numerology with Sangeet Kaur Khalsa
I have a dear teacher in my life named Sangeet Kaur Khalsa. She has taught me, guided me and is a special presence in my life. Sangeet has trained me in Reiki and in numerology, just as she was taught by her own teacher, Yogi Bhajan. She came to me as my teacher when I need her the most and when I was ready to receive her. Today, for Wisdom Wednesday I would like to share the WISDOM Sangeet shared on her blog this month entitled May’s Numerology: Make Your Life a Sanctuary, a Place of Love, Peach and Harmony. A guiding message for us all to create a sacred sanctuary this month in our homes, so the we may have peace and harmony in our heart and in our minds.
She explains that this year we are in a Planetary Cycle of 10. For most this is a great time for fresh new beginnings and blossoming lives and careers. But for many, loud voices of anger overcomes them as they witness and experience the growth and expansion.
This month provides all of us the OPPORTUNITY to create a new personal sanctuary in our homes and in our lives with peace, love and harmony. This is achieved through prayer and meditation so that you may be supported by positivity, in words, action, and in thinking. It's time to drop the anger that is in each of us. RESPOND instead of REACT. Creating a place of peace and harmony in our homes creates the same in our hearts and minds.
Things to focus on in the month of May:
- create a peaceful and harmonious sanctuary in your home
- show love and compassion
- pray and meditate
- slow down your breath, let peace, love and harmony blossom within
Challenges and Blocks in the month of May:
- keeping promises made
- standing by your commitments
- speaking and doing things with heart and compassion
- breaking harmony within the home and elsewhere
Some tips on creating a sacred sanctuary within your home:
- create a space for prayer and meditation
- play peaceful music (follow my special spotify playlist Sacred Space of Peace Love Harmony )
- connect with nature and it’s beauty
- remove yourself from screaming and anger filled situations

As Sangeet says "This is the way karma works. Put in good, honest effort and you grow stronger. Build love and peace inside and you reap good rewards. Fail to take steps in this direction, whether consciously or unconsciously, and energetic backlash happens."
Yogi Bhajan, Kundalini Yoga Master and teacher, shared that when our heads are too full our hearts become empty. Through slowing our breath and keeping our thoughts from consuming our minds it allows our hearts to fill and gives us the ability to share love with others from a true and deep space of tranquility. There are wonderful heart centered meditations and breaths to help you this month. Check back in on May 15, 2017 for Meditation Monday where I will share with you a meditation for Stress Relief and Clearing Emotions of the Past using the the breath pattern Sangeet shares in her blog this month.
