Simple Solution to Storing Christmas Lights It’s that time of the year again, time to put up the Christmas tree. Our family looks forward to setting up the tree and decorating. However my hubby, Michael, does not look forward to fighting with the Christmas lights. No matter what he does those darn lights get tangled and are difficult to unwind. I know there are products out on the market to address this very issue but really, I think I have better uses for my money. So every year Michael curses the Christmas light but not this season. Last Christmas I helped put the Christmas lights away. It was the first season we simplified and streamlined our Christmas decorations. We thought long and hard about what to keep and what to throw out. We were able to pack all our Christmas decorations into two large containers. I believe that’s really a huge accomplishment. In the process I came up with a flat storage solution for our Christmas lights, pictured above. I simply cut up some shipping boxes from presents we received in the mail into rectangles. Then I started on one end and wrapped the light to the other end. It was really quick to put then away, they laid flat and stored easily in the container. We are setting up our Christmas tree this evening and Michael has just informed me that my solution from last year was brilliant! He said that the lights were so simple to unwind and put on the tree. This year he didn’t have to fight with the lights for the first time ever. This makes setting up Christmas lights easy and simple. Plus it costs no money. Preparing for the holiday season is hard enough we shouldn’t have to struggle getting ready for it. I hope this little storage trick helps make the season a little more merry.
